Abstract
Pea is considered as one of the most economic winter season legume crops cultivated in Egypt for local consumption and exportation as green pods and dry seeds. The present work was conducted at the Experimental Farm of Shandweel Agricultural Research Station, Sohag Governorate, Egypt during the two winter seasons of 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 to investigate the effect of variation in leaf morphology using four normal leafed cultivars and two semi-leafless cultivars on population densities of Aphis craccivora and Liriomyza trifolii. In addition to studying the growth and green yield of the six tested cultivars. Data indicated that the number and the time of peaks varied between semi-leafless and normal leafed cultivars in both seasons of the study. The results showed that Boogie cv. gave similar yield to normal pea cultivars, and also found comparatively more resistant to the attack by A. craccivora and L.trifolii than all other normal leafed cultivars. However, further research on leaf morphology of pea plant and its effect on insect infestation is needed.
