Abstract
The histological changes and some parameters in the kidney of albino rat re
examined to show the effect of daily 1/4 lD50 (500 mg/kg b.w,) of herbicide Mac~~te
afttir 151. 2.J)d, 3!d and 4th weeks post Ireatment. The results indicated a marlted
SignifICant decrease in body weight, while a significant increase in kidney weight.
Kidney ; Hyperaemia was observed in the cortical blood vessels, while he
epithelial cells lining the renal tubules had degenerative changes. Focal mononucl~ar
leucocytic Inflammatory caUs infiltration was noticed inbetween the renal tubulel. It
could be stated that Machete herbicide causes pathogenesis In kidney tissue I at
could possiblY leads to renal dysfunction.    .
Also, total protein, total bilirubin, uric acid creatinine and urea were change in
plasma of albino rat after oral administration 1/4 L050 herticlde Machete daily, it was
observed an increase in total bilirubin, uric acid, c:teatinine and urea but a gradually
decreases was recorded in total protein level at an tested periods, except at1stwe k
creatinine did not changed compared with control.
